Abstract

Research and analysis on the length of tenure of ministers in Papua New Guinea (PNG) has not been systematically studied by scholars. The preliminary findings show that the cumulative average tenure of ministers has declined significantly, especially after the period 1972-1977 where the average cumulative tenure was 48 months – 4 years. The cumulative average length of tenure of ministers for the period 1972-2012 is 30 months – 2.5 years. However, the cumulative average length of tenure of ministers under all the different prime ministers is 24 months – 2 years.
