Abstract
This paper is concerned with the sensitivity analysis and synthesis of minimum sensitivity structures for MIMO linear continuous-time state-space systems. Generalized Gramians are defined for MIMO systems. A sensitivity measure, called the “frequency-weighting sensitivity”, is defined and represented in terms of the generalized Gramians. System structures with minimum frequency weighting sensitivity are synthesized for two cases of no constraints and scaling constraints on state variables, and then optimized with respect to the scaling parameter δ in the latter case. It is clarified that the synthesized system structures do not coincide with the balanced realization in the wide sense.
