Abstract
Direct torque control (DTC) is employed to minimize the influence of the cogging torque on the vibrational behavior of a PM brushless machine. Simulated and measured results, both with and without cogging torque compensation, show that DTC is effective in compensating for the influence of cogging torque provided it is taken into account in the torque estimation. The method results in a simple and effective control algorithm and significantly reduces torque ripple and vibration
