Abstract 1. 1. Previous attempts to minimize ecchymosis in patients who have undergone rhinoplasty are discussed briefly. 2. 2. The physiology of spontaneous hemostasis and the chemistry and pharmacology of Adrenosem salicylate are reviewed. 3. 3. The technic used in this study is described. 4. 4. Preoperative and postoperative administration of Adrenosem to patients undergoing rhinoplasty resulted in decreased bleeding during the procedure and a reduction in the ecchymosis which customarily follows.
