Abstract
The problem of process waste whether gas, liquid or solid is best dealt with by making the process more efficient in its use of raw materials and energy. Improved process integration can lead to reduced environmental emissions. Once emissions have been reduced to an economic minimum, the assessment of alternative waste treatment options must be considered in the content of the overall process. This paper proposes an approach to the minimization of environmental emissions through improved process integration and their treatment in the context of the overall process.
