Abstract

Background: Intersphincteric resection (ISR) has been introduced as an alternative to abdominoperineal resection for low rectal cancer patients, but the oncological safety of minimally invasive ISR has not been established. This study evaluated the long-term oncologic outcomes of minimally invasive versus open ISR for low rectal cancer patients.
