Abstract

Epidural pharmacotherapy methods are used for the treatment of back pain caused by aseptic inflammation of the nerve root. However, epidural drug administration has several limitations, that led to the development of a new method — epidural laser therapy. It consists in installation of the optical fiber with a low-intensity laser radiation in the epidural space under X-ray guidance with a subsequent course of laser therapy directly for the damaged spinal nerve root. Results of a comparative assessment of the effectiveness of treatment with epidural pharmacotherapy and epidural laser therapy methods are presented.
