Abstract
Objectives To investigate the effect and safety of minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy(MPCNL) with multiple tracts in a single session for branched renal calculi. Methods Results 43 patients with branched renal calculi by multiple tracts in a single session in minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy were analyzed. All patients were successful in one-session access,in which 23 MPCNLs by two tracts,12 by three tracts and 8 by four or more tracts. The single session stone-free rate was 84.8% (38/43).The mean operative time was (126 ±45.7)minutes.During and after operation,4 cases needed transfusion and one patient underwent selective embolization of renal artery. No septic shock occurred. Conclusions Minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy with multiple tracts in a single session was a effective and safe treatment method for the patients with branched renal calculi.
