Aim Analyze minimal time interval necessary for retraction cords RC embedded in L epinephrine LE or aluminum chloride AC to expose cervical finish line of tooth preparation for satisfactory impression without causing gingival recession GR nbsp Method nbsp Cords nbsp were nbsp placed nbsp in nbsp nbsp teeth nbsp of nbsp nbsp mongrel nbsp dogs nbsp divided nbsp into nbsp nbsp groups teeth received LE cords teeth received SC cords controls did not receive RC Cords stayed in sulcus for and minutes and potential GR analyzed at and days nbsp Results nbsp Groups nbsp nbsp amp nbsp nbsp showed nbsp nbsp and nbsp the nbsp group nbsp nbsp nbsp of nbsp satisfactory nbsp gingival displacement GD P Groups amp showed similar GD in all time intervals When the RC was used over minutes in groups amp GR occurred nbsp Conclusion Placement of cords soaked in LE or in AC for up to minutes in the gingival sulcus does not cause GR
