Abstract

AbstractA miniaturized low‐loss Wilkinson power divider was designed and fabricated using standard LTCC technology. Size reduction was implemented by folding the quarter‐wave transmission lines into tightly coupled meander lines. Parameters determining the electrical performance of the divider structure were analyzed using both circuit and full‐wave electromagnetic simulations. Scattering‐parameter measurements correlated very well with the simulations and demonstrated excellent RF performance and manufacturability. Insertion loss of 0.1 dB, return loss of 30 dB, and isolation of 27 dB were measured at the operation frequency. Furthermore, compared to a traditional ring‐type Wilkinson divider, an approximately 67% size reduction was achieved. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
