Abstract

This paper presents a novel, compact, multi-band wearable antenna with high gain. The antenna adopts a side-fed mode for feeding. At the same time, the antenna consists of a zigzag patch with T-shaped, crescent-shaped, coupled double circular slots and a defective ground structure (DGS). The four working frequency bands of the antenna are in the range of 2.82-2.84GHz, 5.19-5.21GHz, 6.68-6.69GHz and 8.03-8.07GHz. It is this ingenious design that enables the antenna to serve the home, commercial, and medical industries at the 2.8GHz frequency band. The antenna can also be used in the home wireless network, industrial and medical frequency bands at 5.21GHz. At 6.68GHz, the antenna exhibits the characteristics of wider bandwidth, solving the problems of short propagation distance and wireless interference. The antenna plays a role in data transmission at 8.06GHz. The wearable hairpin microstrip antenna proposed in this paper has gradually evolved and optimized from the initial basic structure to a high-performance quad-band antenna. In order to increase the gain, the antenna tried different substrate materials, and finally used ROGERS RO4350 material to increase the gain. Compared with the original material, the gains of the antenna are significantly improved. Through the simulation test, it is found that the antenna can be better applied in the wearable field and play a huge role in human body communication.
