Abstract

Two port high isolated ultra wide band (UWB) Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna system has been proposed using loop excitation based on quasi-Yagi. The driven loop element has two semi loops, one is designed above the substrate and other bellow the substrate, which increase the bandwidth of antenna and reduces dimensio of the antenna. The proposed quasi-Yagi MIMO antenna system has been designed to operate at the desired center frequency of 4.9 GHz which has a specific application of public safety WLAN. The MIMO antenna has bandwidth of 2.75 GHz in the range of 4.49–7.24 GHz. It has a miniaturized size of $52\times 80\times 0.2 \mathbf{mm}^{3}$ . The Yagi like MIMO antenna has high directional radiation characteristics with the simulated isolation of more than 18 dB, gain of 4.68 dB and a directivity of 5.37 dBi at 4.9 GHz. It has a simulated envelop correlation coefficient (ECC) value of $5.15\times 10^{-6}$ across the frequency band.
