Abstract

A compact dual-mode resonator bandpass filter with harmonic suppression is presented. The filter is composed of a perturbed star-shaped resonator and defected ground structure units. The spurious suppression of the bandpass filter could be realized by controlling the dimension of the defected ground structure, which provides a low-pass characteristic. The star-shaped resonator offers a 37% size reduction compared to a conventional ring resonator operating at 2.5 GHz. Measured results agree well with the simulation ones.
