Abstract

The Mineralogical Society's Millennium Winter Conference was held at the University of Reading on Monday 13 to Wednesday 15 December 1999. The idea behind the conference was to bring together workers from as wide a cross-section of the mineralogical sciences as possible. The conference theme was clays, how they are created from volcanic materials, their environmental roles, and how they become components of supracrustal rocks, are metamorphosed and ultimately recycled back to magma during crustal anatexis.
