The deposits result from mineralizing processes that range from the Mesoarchean to the Cenozoic and include types as varied as orthomagmatic chromium-nickel-platinum group elements (PGE); rare-metal granites and pegmatites (tantalum, niobium, and rare-earth elements); volcanic-hosted massive sulfide copper-zinc-lead-gold; sedimentary exhalative (SEDEX) zinc-lead-silver; orogenic and intrusion-related gold; iron oxide copper-gold (IOCG); banded iron formation (BIF); and Mississippi Valley-type (MVT) zinc-lead.
