Abstract

Mahalona South West is one of the PT Vale Indonesia Tbk Contract of Work areas, which is located between Sorowako Block and Petea Block. The area includes 14 compartments, namely Compartment 9, 10, 11, 12, 77, and 99 (West Block) and Compartment 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 (South Block). Mining activities are planned to be implemented in 2023 - 2040 and one of the infrastructures needed to support mining operations is the mine haul road. The design of mine haul road dimensions is one of determining factors for a mining operation success because it affects haul trucks productivity, overburden stripping cost, and stripping ratio value. Therefore, this research aims to design mine haul road and estimate the construction costs that will be incurred based on the design. The data used were topographic map, boundary pit of Mahalona South West, geometry levels, specifications of dump truck CAT 777D, purchase price/hour, operating cost/hour, maintenance cost/hour, and labor cost/ hour. The 10 mine haul roads were designed using Maptek Vulcan 9.0 software. Based on the mine haul road design, the total volume of cut is 1,720,349 m3, the total volume of fill is 1,824,234 m3, and the total length of mine haul road is 16.70 km so the estimated total construction cost is $14,519,483.
