Abstract

The downlink joint transmission (JT) scheme utilizing the reciprocity of the time division duplex (TDD) channel has been proposed, in which the transmit signals to all mobile station (MS) are jointly generated under the consideration of the channel properties estimated from the uplinks. The scheme can observably reduce the computation and the complexity of mobile station, such that only a linear filter is required in MS to detect the received signals. JT was extended to multi-user MIMO, i.e. MMO JT. It was assumed in all previous works that antennas both at BS and MS are uncorrelated, which is not the case in a real-life system. This paper focus on MIMO JT with correlated antennas both at BS and MS, but antenna pairs on BS and MS respectively are uncorrelated. The digital results for MIMO JT with correlated antennas was presented and compared to the performance of MIMO JT with uncorrelated antennas.
