Abstract

The design and development of a UHF to Ka-band (0.870 GHz to 35 GHz) single sideband upconverter using GaAs beam lead Schottky barrier diodes is described. Performance characteristics of the upconverter are presented as a function of input modulating signal frequency, input power and LO power. Output power of 0 dBm has been achieved with carrier fixed at 35 GHz and modulating signal frequency fixed at 0-87 GHz. Conversion flatness obtained over the input modulating frequency swept from 0 5GHz to 20GHz is ±0 35dB.
