Abstract

This paper examines the performance of the indoor wireless communications systems in the millimeter wave band and investigates the data transmission rate in terms of base station antenna locations by using the ray-tracing technique. In order to validate the model, continuous wave (CW) experimental measurements are conducted and have successfully fitted the simulation data. The undertaken scenarios are: ceiling mounted base antenna (CeMBA), corner mounted base antenna (CoMBA), and wall-mounted base antenna (WMBA). The data analysis of the simulation demonstrates that the WMBA is the best scenario since its channel exhibits the lowest RMS delay spread and behaves as a Ricean channel.
