Abstract

This paper describes a MMW-over-fiber system for a future personal communications system and presents experimental results using analog FM and digital QPSK signals. It clarifies the limit of the propagation distance within which a required SNR can be obtained with the FM signal. The system's bit error rate characteristics when digital QPSK signals are transmitted is also examined. The results verify the system's ability to transmit digital signals with a transmission capacity of 35 Mbps. In addition to system performance, several key technologies for building this system are described.
