Abstract
1. One hundred and forty consecutive patients in a double-blind study were used to evaluate the galactopoietic and galactokinetic effect of intranasal oxytocin.2. Breast engorgement was prevented after the use of intranasal oxytocin in a high percentage of patients.3. No statistical difference in length of nursing was noted between the oxytocin and control groups, but the oxytocin group definitely seemed to have less difficulty while they did nurse, i.e., greater nursing satisfaction.
