Abstract
Occupational exposures account for 15% of the population-attributable risk of COPD. This estimate is based on a robust number of population-based studies across multiple occupations.1 Military service, however, has not been considered as an occupational contributor to COPD risk. Such military service is potentially important because it involves multiple traditional work-related exposures, especially inorganic dust inhalation.2
