Abstract

Abstract Military psychology is defined as the science and application of human behavior as it relates to the military. The field of military psychology integrates the professional and scientific literature with practical requirements of the military in order to meet the needs of the armed forces and military personnel (Kennedy & Zillmer, 2006). Much of the thinking in the field of military psychology, stimulated by the situational demands of the military, has had a dramatic impact on the overall field of psychology itself, particularly psychological testing, personnel selection, clinical psychology education, aviation psychology, understanding of the human response to trauma, and head‐injury rehabilitation. Thus, the origins, history, and development of military psychology and its relationship to the general field of psychology are intertwined.
