Abstract
MENTAL HEALTH teams from Landstuhl (Germany) Regional Army-Air Force Medical Center are working with survivors of the terrorist bombing of the Khobar Towers US military housing complex in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. At the same time, the approximately 20 000 US military people serving in the Persian Gulf area are bracing for possible further terrorism. Military medical personnel are reviewing emergency support plans. Some of this emergency medical planning was put into effect promptly after the housing in Dhahran's al-Khobar suburb was blasted by a truck bomb. Forward Area Surgical Teams from Ramstein (Germany) and Incirlik (Turkey) bases rushed to the scene. And a Critical Care Augmentation Transport Team that was supporting North Atlantic Treaty Organization peace enforcers in Bosnia-Herzegovina moved into standby position.
