Abstract

Students entering the inpatient psychiatric clinical rotation are faced with a new practice environment that may cause varying levels of anticipatory anxiety. A simulation was developed to provide the opportunity to rotate through four different patient types and experience an introduction to the inpatient psychiatric milieu. This simulation is a novel method to prepare students for inpatient psychiatric clinical experiences and is easily adaptable to fit the needs of a variety of programs. Feedback from clinical faculty and students has been overwhelmingly positive.
