Abstract
We report the development of a mild protocol for the Homer-Wadsworth-Emmons reaction of diprotic phosphonates that makes use of a zinc triflate promoter in the presence of mild tertiary amine bases to produce α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acids and amides.
