Abstract
The accumulation of neutral red into the epidermal cells of lupine (Lupinus albus) cotyledons during the germination was studied by microspectrophotometrical method. The microscopical observations has proved that the accumulation of neutral red was quite different in the normal epidermal cells and prestomatic cells. The measurements made by photometermicroscope MPE Leitz-Ortholux showed two different absorption spectra in the region between 410-650 nm for normal epidermal cells and prestomatic cells. The authors suppose, on the strength of the recorded absorption peaks, that these two kinds of cells are due to different flavonole substances both in quantity and quality. These substances may be implied for the neutral red accumulation and the recorded curves of absorption spectra.
