Abstract
book while the remainder is devoted to other topics, including a useful (but preHipparchos) section on astrometry. Many of the major sections end with a few exercises for students, for which answers are provided. I would have like to see many more references to original sources indicated in the text, rather than relatively few gathered in an appendix. I also believe a book with this target audience can not ignore the WWW as a source of material for students of astronomy. The section on catalogues is similary lacking references to electronic and CD-ROM sources for the multitudes of databases that are now an essential part of the practice of astronomy at any level.
