Migrations, development and urbanization policies in sub-Saharan Africa

Abstract

This book is a product of a CODESRIA project regarding the links among population dynamics (including migration) development policies urbanization and the crisis existing in rural areas of Sub-Saharan Africa. The eight studies which are interdisciplinary in nature concern the Central African Republic Congo the Ivory Coast Lesotho Nigeria Senegal Tanzania and Zambia. A common theme is the critical role played by population dynamics in the problems these countries are experiencing and the need to adapt development policies to take them into account. This book is also available in a French version published in 1993.
