Abstract

The short circuit duration in MIG short-circuit welding is evaluated using the Bless relationship which refers only to mass of drops and surface tension to molten metal. In a typical experiment, the experimental values of short circuit duration fit with the expected ones, considering acceptable value for the surface tension of molten iron. Therefore, the Bless relationship should be a good mean for the prediction of the short circuit duration in the MIG welding process.
