Abstract

The article discusses the phenomenon of intergenerational homes as an evolution of the traditional multigenerational household model. Intergenerational living refers to multiple generations of one family living alongside each other. It addresses contemporary challenges such as caring for older generations and providing affordable housing for the younger ones. In this paper the author defines trends in Poland, discusses the origins, and analyzes various intergenerational living forms. Using examples of the modernization of a cube house from the 1980s, the author examines the real-life manifestation of intergenerational homes and identifies the recurring functional strategies applied.
