Abstract
Abstract Neonates cannot succeed in oral/nasal respiration coordination. Therefore they are obligate nasal breathers. Nasal oedema is the most common cause of nasal obstruction in this age group. Bilateral choanal atresia, pyriform aperture stenosis and intranasal tumors are less commonly seen but these have more serious complications therefore need urgent treatment. 19-Day-old female infant was consulted with respiratory distress to our clinic. In nasal examination with fiberoptic endoscopy bilateral nasal obstruction was seen 2cm away from nasal inlet. Computed tomography revealed bilateral narrowing of nasal bone and 1cm stenotic segment at the midway of the nasal cavities. Also there was a solitary median maxillary central incisor. By endoscopic surgery the stenosis was opened and a stent was placed. We presented this case because it is the second midnasal stenosis case reported in English literature and rarely seen as cause of pediatric nasal obstruction.
