Abstract

The classic approach to the first annular pulley for surgical management of trigger thumb pathology involves a transverse incision. However, the complication of iatrogenic laceration of the radial digital nerve to the thumb is always a concern with a transverse incision. A midlateral incision provides excellent visualization with a low risk of nerve injury.
