Abstract

Middle Triassic (probably Ladinian) carbonates of the Lower Dolomitic Member of the Trevenque Unit (a part of the Intermediate Group of the Alpujarride Complex) were studied in the Cahorros de Monachil section southeast of Granada, in the Inner Zone of the Betic Cordillera, with respect to the facies succession and to the paleontological criteria. “Serpulid/algal/cement reefs”, developed in the upper part of the section, represent a new subtype of “algal/cement reefs”, a special reef type restricted to the Artinskian to Carnian time interval.
