Abstract

Eleven species of microfossils have been recognized in cherts from shallow-marine and intertidal dolostones of the Wumishan Formation (1200–1400 Ma), in the Western Hills near Beijing. Of these, one is a new taxon: Oscillatoriopsis subtilis n.sp. The microbiota has some affinities with that of the approximately coeval Dismal Lakes assemblage in arctic Canada.
