Abstract

This article describes the development of a nursing professional practice model (PPM) and 5-year post-implementation survey findings. A link was sent to 2,140 nurses in 14 facilities. Of the nurses who responded to the survey, 24% (n = 150) were employed during the creation and roll-out of the PPM before 2015, and 34% (n = 160) who onboarded after are aware of it. Nurses described that the PPM resonated in a better understanding of nursing practice, increased their ability to talk to other health care providers about nursing practice, and served as a credible, respected, and reliable source of information on nursing practice.
