Abstract
The middle cranial fossa approach is a useful technique for surgical treatment of many diseases especially those involving the internal auditory canal. The technique may be extended to involve a petrosectomy making the surgery very versatile. The approach is commonly indicated for small lesions when hearing preservation is possible. Adequate exposure is obtained and common morbidities associated with more conventional approaches are often avoided.
