Abstract

Five conventional core samples recovered from depths 3785-3799 m in the Bardawil-1 Borehole, North Sinai, Egypt, contain diverse dinoflagellate cyst and miospore assemblages which are comparable to those of the Albian stratotype and from neighbouring areas. The interval is dated as a late Albian-early Cenomanian, and a middle to outer shelf association is demonstrated on the basis of high numbers of dinoflagellate cysts reflecting marine deposition not far from the coast.
