Abstract

Takotsubo, or stress-related, cardiomyopathy often presents similarly to an acute coronary syndrome with chest pain, ischaemic changes on ECG and a serum troponin rise. Whilst complications such as ventricular free-wall and septal rupture following acute myocardial infarction are well-recognised in the literature, similar mechanical complications following takotsubo cardiomyopathy are rare and not well-characterised.
