Abstract

Measurements of the magnetic moments of a range of γMnCu alloys containing more than 68% Mn show that these antiferromagnetic alloys also have mictomagnetic properties at low temperatures. The diffuse peak in the neutron diffraction pattern of low Mn content mictomagnetic alloys is also observed for high concentrations, but not for pure γMn, which suggests that short-range order is responsible for mictomagnetic behaviour across the alloy system.
