Abstract

The microwave spectra of methyl iodosilane and its six isotopic species were measured. The rotational, centrifugal distortion constants and all the nonzero components of the nuclear quadrupole coupling constant tensor χ in the inertial principal axes system were simultaneously determined. From the observed moments of inertia, the r s structure was established. The nuclear quadrupole coupling constant tensor was transformed to those in its own principal axes system. Discussions on the molecular structure, the χ tensor, and the dipole moment were made by comparing the present results with those of the analogous molecules.
