Abstract

Microwave spectra of chloromethylethyl ether and its thirteen isotopically substituted species have been measured. The r s structure of the GT isomer of this molecule was determined from the observed moments of inertia. It is noted that one of the two CH bonds in the OCH 2C group gives a remarkably large value (1.225 Å). This anomalous bond is nearly parallel to the CCl bond in the molecule. In order to ascertain this anomaly, measurements of spectral intensities and microwave double resonance experiments have been carried out for the species relating to this CH bond.
