Abstract
The microwave spectrum of methylbromoform has been reported in the region between 12,400 and 40,000 MHz. The rotational constants have been found to be B = 1072.7 for CH 3C 79Br 3, A = 1073.2 and B = 1056.9 for CH 3C 79Br 2 81Br, A = 1065.3 and B = 1050.0 for CH 3C 79Br 81Br 2 and B = 1049.8 MHz for CH 3C 81Br 3. From the rotational constants the structure was obtained to be r (CBr) = 1.927 A ̊ and ∡ CCBr = 107.7° with the assumption of the methyl group structure and the r(CC) distance. A disubstitution method has been developed and examples employing this method for the disubstituted isomers of trichlorofluoromethane and trichloroacetonitrile are presented.
