Abstract

Today's High Temperature Superconductor (HTS) technology has reached the stage where a variety of microwave components can be realized with better performance characteristics than comparable conventional components. However, as with all emerging technologies, there are a number of hurdles to overcome before commercial products can be realized. This paper provides an overview of the current state of the art in microwave HTS technology with a focus on high power applications. It also discusses the steps required to bridge the transition from R&D to commercialization of HTS technology.
