Abstract

In this work, the effect of microwave irradiation on the catalytic oxidative desulfurization (ODS) of light gasoil fraction has been investigated using core/shell magnetic silica supported with phosphotungstic acid (Ni@SiO2\\PWA) nanocomposite catalyst. Different experimental parameters including catalyst amount, H2O2:gasoil ratio, as well as microwave irradiation power and exposure time have been studied. Ni@SiO2\\PWA nanocomposite exhibited high desulfurization efficiency (ca. 94.5%) under suitable conditions of microwave-induced catalytic ODS in short reaction times. The catalyst recyclability study showed that the prepared catalyst can be magnetically separated and reused at least six times with an unimportant loss of its activity.
