Abstract

A calculation of the dielectric function for the charge density wave conductor NbSe 3 is presented. It is based on experimental results of the frequency dependent conductivity showing a roll-off at high frequencies, and applies one of the Kramers-Kronig relations. As a consequence of the roll-off, the dielectric function changes sign at the lower end of the microwave range of frequencies. Consequences of this behaviour on microwave harmonic mixing are indicated.
