Abstract

The frequency dependent dielectric relaxation spectra for binary mixture of nitrobenzene with butoxyethanol at eleven concentrations at 303K over frequency range 10 MHz to 20 GHz were studied using Time Domain Reflectometry. The mixture exhibits a principle dispersion of the Debye relaxation type. Dielectric constant (ε0), relaxation time (τ), excess dielectric constant (εE), excess inverse relaxation time (1/τ)E, and Kirkwood correlation factor (geff) have been determined and discussed in terms of the effect of -OH side group on molecular dynamics and intermolecular bonds. Conformational of the hydrogen bond is studied by the FTIR.
