Abstract

Abstract The present work is intended to investigate for a facile solid acid catalytic system for the synthesis of industrially important propyl esters via microwave irradiation. A series of solid acid catalysts like zirconia, alumina, alumina-zirconia, sulfated alumina, sulfated zirconia, and sulfated alumina-zirconia were prepared and characterized by BET, NH3-TPD, PXRD, SEM, and TEM techniques. The effect of different reaction parameters like reaction time, reaction temperature, heating method, molar ratio, the amount of the catalyst and reusability are discussed. Kinetic studies were also carried out.
