Abstract
Abstract To enhance the magnetic and microwave absorbing properties, barium hexaferrite, BaFe12O19, was studied in the x-band (7–13 GHz) frequency range. The BaFe12O19 was prepared as non-magnetized and magnetized samples. The crystal structure, surface morphology, magnetic and microwave absorption of BaFe12O19 were studied with X-ray diffraction (XRD), optical microscope, permagraph and vector network analyzer (VNA), respectively. XRD result showed the formation of M-type hexagonal polycrystalline structure. The hysteresis loop results verified the formation of permanent magnet with high saturation magnetization. The VNA results showed that reflection loss and absorption were − 71.07 dB and 67.96% for magnetized barium hexaferrite, respectively.
