Abstract

An improved free surface tracking method (micro-VOF) is presented for use in numerical solutions of unsteady, incompressible free surface flow problems. Problems of this sort are governed by the Navier- Stokes and continuity equations. These equations maybe solved using an Eulerian mesh and appropriate finite difference approximations to the terms of the equations [1]. The evolution of the free surface must also be solved for as its spatial and temporal location is not known a prior. The method is validated against various test cases.
